In short
- We do not sell your data and we do not ask you to create an account.
- We only keep your email if you ask for a PDF guide.
- We use Microsoft Clarity to improve the guides; it never shows your name.
What we collect and why
| Data | How we use it |
|---|---|
| Email address (optional) | Only if you ask for the Osa Trip Planner or the Corcovado cheat sheet. We store your email, language, country and the form you used, to send you the PDF and, if you agree, occasional guides. Hosted on Cloudflare; the welcome email is sent through Resend. Every email has an unsubscribe link. |
| Visit statistics | Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits and pages. It does not use cookies and does not follow you across sites. |
| Microsoft Clarity | Shows us, without your name, where visitors click and scroll so we can fix confusing pages. It records anonymous sessions and masks sensitive content by default. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland it sets no cookies unless consent is given, and we do not ask for it, so it runs in a limited, cookieless mode. In other countries it uses cookies. |
| Partners and maps | Some pages embed Stay22 maps and link to Booking.com, GetYourGuide, Civitatis, DiscoverCars, Travelpayouts partners and Amazon. Those services may set their own cookies when you load a map or click a link. Their privacy policies apply. Some of these links are affiliate links; see the notice on each page. |
| Hosting and security | The site runs on Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver the pages and block attacks. |
Cookies and how to avoid them
Besides Clarity, partner maps and links (see above) may set their own cookies. You can block cookies or trackers in your browser settings or with a content blocker, and the guides keep working.
Your rights
We handle personal data in line with Costa Rica’s Law 8968 on the protection of personal data. You can ask to see, correct or delete the data we hold about you, or withdraw your consent, by writing to [email protected].
